Who makes this
This site is written and maintained by Felipe BSR. Its aim is to provide a practical music-theory reference that works directly in the browser, without requiring registration or accounts.
Why it exists
Many fretboard diagrams available online are static images, created for a specific key or situation. Here, the diagrams are generated dynamically from the instrument’s tuning and the rules of the selected scale.
This makes it possible to generate different keys without relying on ready-made images while also preserving correct musical spelling. In F♯ major, for example, the seventh note is E♯, not F.
The same principle is used to calculate the notes, chords, and positions shown on the fretboard, reducing reliance on manually stored diagrams.
How it works
The tool runs directly in the browser. Preferences are stored locally, and you do not need to create an account to use the site.
The tool is free to use. Product and affiliate links are not currently displayed. The support button opens optional Stripe-hosted contribution choices. More details are available in the privacy policy, cookie policy, and affiliate disclosure.
